Academy Programs

CapoTODS - Ages 2 – 3+ – COMING SOON

Capoeira is suitable for any child as it improves both physical and mental well-being. In their early years, children learn a lot through dance and movement. As Capoeira encompasses both these elements, children will explore how their bodies move, as well as develop coordination and body control.

This is a class designed for toddlers and parents participation. Together they will learn basic Capoeira moves to introduce them to the fundamental skills. The Instructor will guide parents how to facilitate simple gymnastic moves such as forward rolls, bridge and headstands with their child.

Music is an essential element in Capoeira. Classes are conducted to music and research shows that between the ages of 1 -3, children respond best to music when they actively experience it. They will also have the opportunity to build on their rhythm/musical skills as they learn to clap, play instruments and sing.

CapoMINI - Ages 4 – 6

Many children learn best through play, which is why this program has been designed to teach Capoeira skills through games and obstacle courses emphasizing on balance, coordination and flexibility. Children will be taught basic gymnastic moves such as bridge, cartwheel, headstand and handstand building on their flexibility and strength.

This class is conducted without the companion of parents, teaching children to interact with peers.

Music is an important component to Capoeira and there is always music playing during the classes. Music helps to develop children’s sensitivity to sounds and rhythm. They will gain an understanding between their body movements and music.

They will also learn to play instruments and sing in Portuguese.

CapoMAX - Ages  7 – 12

This program focuses on more challenging Capoeira skills. Children progress to learning more advanced moves encouraging coordination, body awareness and controlled body movement. Basic gymnastic moves will continue to be improved, and more advanced moves will be introduced such as walking handstands, walk overs and back flips.

Classes are structured to teach children to be both independent and socially interactive. Music skills are further enhanced as children learn to play instruments and sing in Portuguese. This highly energetic class maintains physical fitness and is a great place to burn off some energy.
