Yesterday was Mestre Pintor’s Birthday and we celebrated with cake and Roda in Bangsar. Later, we chilled out on Shisha at the Red Chamber. Bliss!

Capoeira Festival Conclusion

The 2004 Bantus Capoeira Festival was a success! Workshops with Mestre Pintor

Mestre Pintor will be conducting 2 evening workshops on Monday and Tuesday following the Batizado. This is your chance to learn new moves and to train with the master who taught Instructor Rafael and Professor Gringo.

The workshops begin at 8:30pm and are on Monday, 13 September and Tuesday, 14 September. Non-Bantus students may join the workshops for MYR100 for both evenings, or MYR60 for one evening.

1st Annual Batizado

The Batizado is an important event where new students are initiated into the Bantus Capoeira School. Batizado means ‘baptism’ or ‘initiation’. It is an event in which capoeiristas will be recognised for their efforts to train capoeira and to enrich themselves with Brazilian culture.

Bantus Capoeira Malaysia’s 1st Batizado will be held at the main entrance of the One Utama Shopping Center in Bandar Utama. The ceremony begins at 2:30pm Sunday, 12 September.

Festa Noite Brasileira!

Bantus Capoeira Malaysia’s 1st Capoeira Festival kicks off this week! The festival will comprise of 3 main events; the Festa Noite Brasileira, the Batizado and a two-day workshop with Mestre Pintor.

The Festa Noite Brasileira (Brazilian Night Party), will be held in Qba - The Westin, Kuala Lumpur. The party celebrates the start of our festival and the arrival of our honoured guests. It will be a wild night of samba, forro, Maculelê and of course, capoeira.

Amongst our confirmed international guests for the evening is none other than the founder and master of Bantus Capoeira, Mestre Pintor, who will be flying in from Brazil to celebrate this festival with us.

The party begins at 9:00pm Saturday, 11 September. Students are expected to be there earlier to help with the preparations.

Arrival of Mestre Pintor

Mestre Pintor’s flight (MH610) is due to arrive in Malaysia at 10:05pm Thursday, 9 September. He will be arriving with our abadas, an atabaque, Professor Gringo and Instructor Canguru from Australia!
