Thank you all for your concern and well-wishes. Oftentime such incidents are so remote that they may leave little impact on us, but this time Malaysians are able to sympathise better with other more disaster-prone countries such as Japan and Indonesia. Talk about counting your blessings, whatever your circumstance!

To everyone concerned, Rafael and the rest of us are safe from harm.

Penang, however, is just a short 5-hour drive north from where we are. We were very close to where the earthquake occured and tremors were felt in some parts of the city before the tsunami hit the northern coastal regions of our country.

Maurício: Rafael has spoken to his family yesterday, hope everyone won’t have to worry anymore.

Hi Bantus Malaysia,

I hope all you guys are safe and secure, and your loved ones are all OK.

I heard about the news, and watched the footage on the ninemsn website. Amazing and tragic, the quote on your homepage is apt. Just a couple of months ago, we in Tokyo felt the earthquake that left thousands homeless in Niigata.

Links: Niigata Earthquake, The 2004 Niigata-ken Chuetsu earthquake

If the earthquake had have hit Tokyo, the results would have been a lot worse.

Have a Happy New Year and good luck for 2005.
